When you are considering selling your business, there are a number of things you can do, to assist the sale and increase the value. In my opinion there’s nothing more important than employing a manager. You need to divorce yourself from the daily operation of your business. The less reliant your business is on you, the better the chance of selling and obtaining a better price. If a buyer has to be involved in the business in a full-time capacity, no matter how profitable the business is, he has bought himself a job. This doesn’t allow the buyer the time to pursue other opportunities.
